Saint-Olawale Jimoh, the winner of the Distinguished John Bunyan Award for Creative Writing, is a promising young Nigerian writer and founder of Saint-Olawale Jimoh’s Literary Foundation for African Children established to re-awakening the literariness in African school children and Observers’ Reflections International, an intellectual and sensitization project, committed to repositioning our society for better through writing and blogging.
He had his first degree in Economics from Olabisi Onabanjo University and was equally lucky to be among first set of people trained at Gateway Petro-Gas Institute, Oni for the much anticipated, yet defunct OKLNG project. His professional certificate from the institute with additional certifications landed him in private sector with experiences that spanned over 12 years as Lead Quality Engineer, Project Administrator, Site Auditor, Welding Superintendent and Inspector.
All these brought him no satisfaction. He knew that was not his calling and was sure he wanted to be a famous and well-paid writer.
Out of his thight schedules, he wrote about notable individuals, national issues in Nigerian dailies and participated in local and international writing competitions where he won great prizes. One of his works was featured on Martin Firell Public Text for Paul Hamlyn Foundation of Tosca- The Royal Opera House London. In 2017, he won the distinguished John Bunyan Award for Creative Writing. On the 18th of September, 2021, he bagged a merit award certificate jointly issued by the International Human Rights Art Festival (New York) and Abeokuta Books Club on account of his excellence delivery at the Conference of Southwest Writers’ Workshop.
He’s today a published author, biographer and a member of the Society Of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW), International Writers’ Association (IWA), Fellow of Rob Parnell’s Writing Academy, listed member of Commonwealth Writers and Volunteer Mentor at Writers Without Borders.
With over 300 published works credited to him including his recently launched book titled ‘Journey to Self’, Saint-Olawale Jimoh has proven you can always achieve your dream and maximize your potential if you’re tenaciously focused no matter the field you find yourself. He says, ‘every success story speaks of a combination of factors that depend solely on the person and on his/her hard work.’
